Function the central neurones critically depends on their interplay with the astrocytes and blood vessels. Over the past decade it has become clear that we cannot explain many physiological and pathological processes in the brain without paying attention to these non-neuronal components of the CNS.The proposed symposium will review the latest developments and controversies in this exciting and rapidly advancing field by featuring presentations on the astrocyte-neuronal communication, plasticity of astrocytic networks and neuro/astrocyte/vascular coupling.
